  5. The future of reimbursement for medical services will be based on
  6. (1) HCFA/Medicare billing guidelines and (2) The resource based
  7. relative value system (RBRVS) to determine fee allowances.
  8.  
  9. The RBRVS was developed in order to determine a fee for each
  10. HCPCS code by assigning  value units to the components of  work,
  11. practice expense and malpractice expense for each physician
  12. service. The total RVU of a mid level office visit (1) was the
  13. basis from which the relative value units (RVUs) were determined.
  14.  
  15. Using Federal Register Addendum B data, PCM has developed a
  16. program that will provide you with fee information by state; by
  17. locality within each state; by dollar amounts; by categories of
  18. work, practice expense, and malpractice expense; and by the
  19. percentage and dollar amounts per category. Our data bases include
  20. all Medicare Carrier GPCIs, the Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield
  21. Medicare allowances, historical fees, and transition indicators.

  24. valuable information available to you for future medical billing.
